Water Agency receives groundwater monitoring funds

Date Published: Dec 18,2008

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Department of Water Resources (DWR) has awarded more than $4.3 million in Proposition 84 funds to 25 public agencies including YCWA through the Local Groundwater Assistance Program. The program helps local agencies throughout California -- particularly during this period of drought -- to perform groundwater studies, monitoring, and management activities. Funded projects include groundwater impact mitigation and monitoring programs, groundwater banking survey and assessments, groundwater recharge investigations, installation of extraction flow meters, establishment of groundwater management objectives, and other programs to assist local agencies in managing groundwater. YCWA will use the funds to improve and expand the current monitoring well network to better protect Yuba County's groundwater resource.
